Dynamic and cost-optimized intralogistics is a basic requirement for competitiveness. Particularly in an industry such as healthcare and medical technology, efficient and effective processes are a central component in being able to adequately offer hospitals products and services. SEP Logistik AG was commissioned to develop such a strategy for the SMS medipool main location in Reichertshofen (north of Munich). During planning and implementation, the project was designed to be rolled out to other locations in the future. In addition to the conception of suitable process flows, the scope of the order also included the procurement and provision of suitable hardware and, last but not least, the comprehensive implementation of the overall solution during ongoing operations. Through its membership in the Mobility & Logistics Cluster, the company H.G.L. has stood for many years. GmbH as Auto-ID hardware partner alongside SEP Logistik AG. With combined competencies, the two companies were able to cover the entire scope of the project seamlessly and as desired.

The partner companies delivered the entire equipment inventory, including the software solution, from a single source, at the best possible price-performance ratio and on time.
The commissioning of the order picking solution with the use of more than 30 devices was carried out thanks to on-site support from H.G.L. employees. GmbH and SEP Logistik AG particularly quickly and smoothly. Even unplanned but necessary change requests to the software – whether through setting options or additional programming – were implemented immediately without falling outside of the planned framework.

After the solution was introduced at SMS medipool, the optimized intralogistics processes were able to establish and prove themselves over several years. In daily practice, it quickly became apparent that the holistic picking solution creates a sustainable improvement in warehouse logistics processes. SMS medipool is currently expanding throughout Germany, drawing on the expertise of SEP Logistik AG and H.G.L. GmbH on board. A location near Leipzig is already successfully productive with comprehensive hardware and software equipment. Further locations in the Frankfurt area and in Dortmund are planned for 2024.
