Forklift Guidance System

RELAG® SLS

Forklift Guidance System

SLS as a scanner solution

The RELAG SLS forklift guidance system optimizes internal material flow through intelligent forklift operation control – efficient, transparent, and easy to use.

The integrated scanner solution ensures the unambiguous identification of transport orders and storage locations. Depending on the process, loading units as well as source and destination locations are scanned, preventing mix-ups and sustainably reducing process errors.

The forklift guidance system has been proven in various industries and operating environments and is seamlessly integrated into the RELAG warehouse management system. This results in clear advantages:

  • Process reliability through unique barcode identification
  • Real-time transparency regarding ongoing and completed transport orders
  • Increased efficiency through targeted forklift control and prioritization
  • Ergonomic operation through clear, intuitively designed user interfaces
  • Flexible hardware integration for a wide variety of industrial trucks and end devices – from robust terminals with connected scanners to mobile handheld devices with integrated scanning functions, and even modern tablets or wearables such as smartwatches, depending on the application.

The result is a forklift-assisted material flow that efficiently supports your warehousing and production processes without complex infrastructure measures and with high system stability.

Forklift navigation with RTLS

With the SLS extension for forklift navigation based on RTLS (Real-Time Location System), internal material flow is elevated to a new level of performance. Precise real-time localization of all industrial trucks enables not only control but also active navigation of the material flow – comparable to a modern driver assistance system. In addition, the solution allows for scanner-free, automatic picking of load units.

Advantages at a glance:

  • Real-time tracking: Every forklift is continuously located within the warehouse or production environment.
  • Automatic navigation: The forklift operator receives visual 3D route guidance, displaying the optimal path from the starting point to the destination with clear navigation instructions.
  • Maximum process reliability: Precise tracking of the vehicle and load unit position reliably eliminates misassignments and booking errors.
  • Seamless integration: Forklift navigation is fully integrated into the RELAG system. Driving orders are automatically assigned and reported back in real time.
  • Increased efficiency: Optimized routes, scanner-free processes, and intelligent order distribution lead to shorter throughput times and reduced operating costs.
  • Flexible deployment options: Tracking works both indoors via Wi-Fi or mobile data and outdoors using GNSS – without the need for RFID tags on the goods.

Particularly suitable for complex requirements:

RTLS-based forklift navigation demonstrates its strengths particularly where conventional scanner solutions reach their limits:

  • For frequently changing drivers with the aim of minimizing training time
  • For large or bulky goods where manual scanning is impractical or ergonomically unfavorable
  • For materials that are difficult to label, such as raw materials or irregularly shaped products

The result is a fully digitally managed material flow that optimally utilizes forklift fleets, significantly reduces error rates, and forms the basis for future-oriented, highly automated intralogistics.
